Easy-to-Use High School Electives from 7 Sisters

Financial Literacy homeschool curriculum

Homeschooling high school doesn’t have to be a stressful, overwhelming experience. Yes, students need to complete the required coursework, and teens who plan to attend college need to prepare academically.

But that doesn’t mean that high school needs to be crammed full of MORE—more hours, more busywork, more rigor (I hate that word!)—merely to prove that homeschooling is an adequate form of education.

Simply put, there is no single “right” way to homeschool high school.

In our homeschool we prefer to focus on the essentials and round out each teen’s high school education with real-life learning. We love to incorporate straightforward, no-fluff courses that promote independent learning skills that can be used for a lifetime.

We recently discovered these easy-to-use high school electives from 7 Sisters that fit our criteria: no busywork, no parent prep, no overkill.

High School Elective: Financial Literacy Curriculum

Because of our family’s emphasis on practical, real-life learning, I was especially interested in the financial literacy curriculum. And I’m happy to say I was not disappointed.

Easy to use

Financial Literacy from a Christian Perspective is a snap to use. To get started, I downloaded the files and printed off only the worksheets. I love that each component of the course is contained in a separate PDF file, making it super easy to print only the worksheets.

My son can easily read the text and access the answer key on a phone, tablet, or computer. Saves both space and paper!

This course requires absolutely no parent preparation—it is truly print and go.

Thorough instruction

The 138-page text contains a wealth of practical instruction that will help teens understand financial management in real life. Topics include financial goals, budgeting, saving, credit, insurance, taxes, and more.

The worksheets help students to apply what they have read. For example, in Worksheet #10, students will set up a balanced budget based on a fictional character’s income, expenses, and goals. This is excellent practice in applying what has been learned about constructing a workable budget.

Structured for independent learning

With no separate teacher’s guide or complicated assignment schedule, this curriculum is perfect for independent learning. Students can read through the text, following directions and completing worksheets as directed. Love this!
