Tuesday was a wonderful first day of homeschool! The kids surprised me a wee bit with their enthusiasm and positive outlook. I surprised myself by being better prepared than I thought I would be (a rather infrequent occurrence, to be sure!).
Our Back-to-Homeschool Traditions
We like to celebrate the first day of homeschool with a hot breakfast, which is a major deviation from our typical cold cereal. I’m pretty certain that we skipped this breakfast tradition last year due to a certain little girl’s sleep habits (or rather, her lack therof!). This year we enjoyed Belgian waffles and bacon, with only mimimal complaining that eggs were not included on the morning menu.
Each year all the children get fresh school supplies . . . binders, pencils, erasers, and more. Along with all the necessities, they always find a treat or two. I’m fairly certain that candy and gum are our family’s most eagerly anticipated back-to-homeschool traditions!
