In my life this week…
I think I’m almost ready for summer to be over. August is an incredibly hectic month for us, and I’m looking forward to settling into a “normal” homeschool schedule again.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
We have stayed home as much as possible this week to make up for last week. Too much time away from home is just plain exhausting for me, so we’ve limited our trips to necessary errands only.
Things I’m working on…
After plenty of research and writing, I finished my Ultimate Guide to Pennsylvania History Resources. What an interesting project! Now that it’s completed, I’m working steadily at getting everything ready for our first day of homeschool.
We’re also planning and starting to pack for ten days away at our church camp. I’m feeling a little bit of a time crunch because we’ll get back on August 24 and start school just four days later!
I’m reading…
The only things I’m reading right now are the Bible and various teacher’s manuals! Anyone else totally immersed in school preparation?
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
“A love of reading is an acquired taste, not an instinctive preference. The habit of reading is formed in childhood; and a child’s taste in reading is formed in the right direction or in the wrong one while he is under the influence of his parents; and they are directly responsible for the shaping and cultivating of that taste.” - H. Clay Trumbull, Hints on Child Training (1890)

Congratulations on finishing your Ultimate post. I felt such a sense of accomplishment when mine was scheduled. Whew!
Enjoy your preparation time. I was glad to have that behind me too.
I’m starting to feel the same thing about summer! We’ve had a good summer with lots of picnics and swimming, but I’m starting to get excited about Fall! In fact, I made PUMPKIN whoopie pies yesterday! LOL And I can’t wait to get a couple bushels of MacIntosh apples in mid-September (as I’ve found some new recipes to try).
I think pumpkin and apples are two of the very best things about fall! I’ve never made pumpkin whoopie pies, but we do love pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. Hope your school year is super!
I’m with you and with Jennifer – I felt GOOD when that ultimate post was up!!
The same day, I finished a major post for my writing job, and that was an especially nice feeling!
Hope you have a relaxing week and a wonderful start to your year!
Oh that quote is inspiring
I’m also knee deep in thinking about our year ahead (although mine starts in January)
I think you deserve a great rest this weekend.
I am with you! I am almost ready for the routine of the school year to begin, as well. We also have a time crunch. My parents rent a place at the beach and then when we get back, it’s school 4 days later. Eeek!
I am trying to get all of my preparations done here, as well, so I won’t be too overwhelmed when we get back. Hope you have a great weekend!
