The Homeschool Mother’s Journal (6-22)

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…

Well, it’s certainly been a warm week in Pennsylvania! In the middle of today’s extreme heat, our air conditioning suddenly quit. Spoiled people that we are, we were miserable! After several hours in survival mode, we discovered that apparently a safety feature had been triggered, possibly due to overheating. Thankfully we’re back to enjoying the luxury of a much cooler and more comfortable home.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We have been staying close to home this week. We did make one trip to our favorite Salvation Army to stock up on clothes for the kids. Since we attend two church camps during July and August, this stock-up trip is a regular summer feature for our family. I really want to avoid forming any closer relationship with the laundromat than is absolutely necessary. :-)

My favorite thing this week was…

Kendra finally took some steps! We’ve been waiting for her to begin to walk–she’s almost sixteen months old now–and she finally decided she was ready. She is SO excited! Really, we all are!

Things I’m working on…

I’m still plugging away at organizing our schoolroom. It seems to be taking forever, but I guess that’s because I only get to work on it a few minutes at a time. I really, really want to finish it up this weekend, though.

I’m reading…

I’ve mostly just been reading the Bible. Unless you count the preface of our chemistry textbook, of course!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

  1. Jenny,
Organizing the school room can be a bear! You have inspired me to get on mine as well – it was organized, then school happened! Time to purge, reorganized, and enjoy. Wishing you luck as you try to complete it while chasing around a new walker!

  2. Congratulations on your little girl starting to walk. :o )

Just dropped in to say hello, and to visit your blog. :o )

    • Love, love, LOVE the picture of the three girls on your blog’s sidebar, Deborah! So adorable in those matching outfits (did you make the skirts?)
I also checked out your printables on Teachers Pay Teachers, and they are VERY nicely done. You have a real talent!
      Thanks for stopping by!

Hello….just made Pappy stop and look at his “handsome” grandson in his uniform before he went out the door to work. When he came in, I said, “this is your grandson”! He said, “Great”!

It is always better when the little ones can get up and go on their own two feet. Of course, it makes them more independent..lol Kendra will be chasing Weston, big time now! lol

Going to do (3) porches by myself today…if I wait on him, they will never get done and I am tired of the winter dust and dirt still lingering on them. Wish your big boys lived closer :) , I would pay them good to help me!!

Have a great day, don’t work too hard!

  4. I too am organizing ;) LOL It looks like a lot of us. YAY!!! for her first steps :) Those are so amazing and so exciting. I remember When my DS took his… I thought they would never come… Devin looks wonderful and I hope you have a great weekend!!!

    • I think that summer and organizing go together, at least for homeschool moms. :-) I’m thankful that at least I enjoy the organizing!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
