I have many fond memories of reading as I was growing up. My dad often gave me books for Christmas, while my mother made dozens of trips to the library to keep us four children in reading material.

I immersed myself in The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, Cherry Ames, and other great wholesome book series. To my way of thinking, the newer versions recently published can’t even compare to my old favorites.

If you loved the “old-fashioned” series of the past and would like to share them with your children, here are a few to get you started. I’ve compiled this list with tween boys in mind, but many girls would enjoy these books as well.

The books listed for each series below are all FREE for Kindle!

Give the Gift of Reading to a Tween Boy

If you’re planning a gift for a tween boy, why not give a gift that will encourage him to read? Think of some of those books that you read over and over as a pre-teen, and pick out a few to give him as a birthday, Christmas, or thinking-of-you gift.

Perhaps you would prefer to give a gift card and allow him to choose his own favorites. This prepaid Visa card from Card.com would be absolutely perfect for gifting books to that special tween boy!
